Bikram Yoga Northampton

  Student comments and suggestions:

We love hearing and reading your comments and suggestions!   Making the studio the best it can possibly be works best when you tell us what you see, want, like and don't like.   Please do so often, whether it's in person, in the suggestion box in the studio, via email or any other medium.

December 1, 2005 - April 12, 2005:
  • Not a great idea to announce who teaches - it is about the Yoga, not the teacher!     You are welcome to ignore the "who's teaching when" schedule.     I think you have a very valid point, but out of respect for the wishes of students who would like to know who's teaching when, I will leave the schedule up.     I hope that the WTW schedule will become less and less interesting to students as they realize what you already know ... but on the other hand, I do believe that it's worth it to fly to LA just to take class from Bikram personally, so who's teaching can be significant. - Carol
  • April 1st Friday, 6:30pm Karma Class - AWESOME CLASS!     Thanks!
  • Fridays 7:00 a.m.     The Friday 7:00 a.m. class we had on April 1st was well attended, so this is a real possibility.
  • Please send an email when the studio is going to close unexpectedly.     Whenever we can, we will! The best way to confirm is by calling the studio at 413-586-0014. If the studio is closing, we'll update the message, and you can leave a message asking for a call if we do cancel class if weather conditions indicate that we might (press "#" to skip the long greeting and leave your message right away).
  • A 2-minute shower sign in the men's changing room.     Done.
  • How about going out to dinner after the last class of the day, perhaps one regular day of the week (Sunday or Tuesday?)     A lovely idea - Sundays might be the best day.
  • To begin and end on time would be great.     We're doing our best!
  • Clock is distracting.     A wonderful opportuinty - conquer the drift of your attention to the clock and find your concentration increased.     Just as Bikram does at his Los Angeles studio, we use the clock to keep class moving on time, so let it be your goal to keep your eyes open focusing on your reflection in the mirror and your ears open focusing on the teacher's instcuction throughout class.
  • More feedback throughout classes - even if you don't know our names. Comments are really helpful to individuals, and even if they're not to all of us we listen.     Happy to oblige, and glad you're listening to all corrections, whether they're directed to you or not.     Nine times out of ten when a correction is directed at one person, there are others in the room who can improve their posture with the same correction.     Every instruction you hear is an encouragement to improve an aspect of your practice - use them, thrive on them.
  • 6:30 a.m. classes!     If the demand is there, any class time is possible.     Please speak up for the class times you want!
  • How about afternoon classes like 12, 1 or 2?     If the demand is there, any class time is possible.     Please speak up for the class times you want!
  • 6 or 7 am Saturday class     If the demand is there, any class time is possible.     Please speak up for the class times you want!
  • Enjoyed Kim's class!     Thanks for the positive feedback - every bit as important as knowing where we can improve (and it makes us smile).
  • When doing standing balancing poses, I find it hard to balance when the teacher walks or stands in front of me.     For good reason - it's distracting! As teachers we try to avoid it, but if you do have an teacher walk or stand in front of you, take it as an opportunity to balance through a greater challenge.
  • Consider underwriting on WFCR, the NPR station on 88.5         This may be beyond the budget of Bikram Yoga Northampton, but I'll investigate ... I often listen on my way to the studio in the mornings. - Carol
